NEW: SoulSpace with Andrea W.
Wednesdays at 11am

Soul Space is a 60-minute session dedicated to reflection, non-denominational prayer and conversation focusing on spirituality and the Divine. This will be a space of grace and calm where together we can connect with our souls, listen to our inner guidance, and create deeper meaning within our own healing journeys.  

 

 

 

NEW: Rosary with Anne

Wednesday 1/13 at 3:15pm

 

The Rosary is a Scripture-based prayer. The repetition in the Rosary is meant to lead one into restful and contemplative prayer related to each Mystery. The gentle repetition of the words helps us to enter into the silence of our hearts, where Christ's spirit dwells.

 


 

 

NEW: Writing to Heal with Christine C.

Thursday 1/14 at 11am

Limited to 10 guests

 

Writing can heal. Learn to use writing to confront the pain, fear, trauma, and strife in your life and to claim your unique voice. The workshop will include creative writing prompts and will discuss the basic elements of every narrative. Be prepared to write.  

 

 


 

 

 

Cooking with Chef Cathy

Available specific Mondays

Chef Cathy will share a Mary’s Place by the Sea recipe and walk you through how to make the meal at home. Her recipes are plant-based and include ingredients that nourish the body and soul. 

 


 


Expressive Writing with Carol C.

Available on specific Mondays:

1/11, 1/18, & 1/25 at 2pm

Limited to 6 Guests per session

 

Expressive Writing uses the act of writing and processing the written word to link feelings to events. Expressive Writing provides a safe and cathartic experience and reduces stress. Writing in this form helps gradually ease feelings of emotional trauma. (Limited to 6 participants).

 


 

 

Mindfulness Meditation Series with Isabel

Available on Mondays:

Mondays 1/4, 1/11, 1/18, & 1/25 at 7pm

 

What is mindfulness meditation? Explore the foundations of mindfulness meditation. Practice mindfulness of the breath, body, emotions, self-compassion and lovingkindness. Join us for this four week series. Open to those who are beginning or experienced in meditation. 


 

 

NEW: Chair Yoga with Sue W.
Specific Wednesdays at 10am

This gentle form of yoga is practiced while seated in a chair or using a chair for stability during standing poses. Sessions focus on improving balance, relieving stress, and increasing flexibility, circulation, and strength. All guests are invited to attend and modifications are offered to meet the comfort level of those practicing. 

 

 

 

NEW:  Fundamentals of Yoga with Isabel G. (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3)
Specific Thursdays at 7:15pm
Part 1 - 1/7; Part 2 - 1/14; Part 3 - 1/21

This series of three sessions will focus on learning basic yoga poses with modifications. Each session will build on the prior session so that we can practice a flow by week three.

 Our yoga sessions are structured around rejuvenating and healing the body. Sessions focus on stretching all areas of the body, while releasing stress and tension from joints and muscles.        Various breathing techniques and guided imagery may be used to increase relaxation. All guests are invited to attend and modifications are offered to meet the comfort level of those practicing.

Breathing & pranayama techniques; great for end of day for calming & quieting; effective for self care awareness; bring a large towel or blanket to class.

Guided Imagery with Susan M.

Available on specific Saturdays:

A gentle but powerful technique that focuses and directs the imagination to produce calm and peaceful images in the mind, which helps to create harmony between the mind and body. Guided imagery involves all the senses, the entire body and emotions. This practice allows our guests to tap into their inner strength to cope with everyday stress.


 

 

 

Guided Meditation with Susan A.

Available on specific Tuesdays:

1/5, 1/12, 1/19, & 1/26 ​at 3pm

 

Our certified practitioners provide an opportunity for guests to focus upon a sound, object, the breath, movement, or attention itself in order to reduce stress, promote relaxation and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm state.

 


 

 

Health Coaching with Laurie G.

Join our Health Coach Laurie to learn health tips and nutritional information to help you navigate your cancer journey. Topics discussed will include tips to help you manage side effects from chemotherapy. 

 


 

 

Afternoon Tea with Susan B.

Available on specific Thursdays:

A place for women with cancer to connect with each other, make new friends, and engage in fun activities with our House Manager Susan Barrett - just like at Mary's Place. 


 

 

 

Christian Prayer Support with Anne

Mary’s Place by the Sea offers Christian prayer as a spiritual activity to reduce emotional stress and worry.

Introduction to SoulCollage®: With Maryann F.

Friday 1/15 & Thursday 1/21

6 Guests per Session

 

Recommended for guests who are new to SoulCollage® or are looking for a refresher on the basics. SoulCollage® is a fun, easy and creative collage process which uses everyday images, intuition and imagination to create a card with unique and personal meaning for the maker. A SoulCollage® workshop consists of two parts: making a SoulCollage® card and journaling to discover the cards narrative and meaning.  This creative process of visualization and art making is both healing and life-enhancing. No artistic experience is necessary! You need a scissor and a glue stick to participate, the rest of the supplies will be mailed to you prior to the session. 

 

SoulCollage® Level 2: With Maryann F.

6 Guests per Session

 

Recommended for guests who have participated in an Introduction to SoulCollage® class. In this session, you will dive deeper into the SoulCollage® process and create additional cards to add to your decks. You need a scissor and a glue stick to participate, the rest of the supplies will be mailed to you prior to the session.

Mary’s Place by the Sea is a respite home for women who are receiving treatment for cancer. We provide services that complement their medical treatment, including oncology massage, nutrition education, individual counseling, Reiki, guided meditation and yoga.
