VIRTUAL SERVICES DESCRIPTIONS


 

 

Mindfulness Meditation Drop-in Sessions with Isabel

Available specific Mondays:

 9/14, 9/21 & 9/28 at 7pm

 

Practice mindfulness of the breath and body, including mindful movement such as yoga stretches, Qigong and mindful eating. Learn how to work with your emotions, nurture self-compassion and loving kindness. We will explore a different topic and practice each week. Open to those who are beginning or experienced in meditation. 


 

 

Gentle Yoga w/ Cheryl
Wednesday - 9/2 at 4pm

 

Gentle Yoga with Elvira
Wednesdays - 9/9, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30 at 4pm

Our yoga sessions are structured around rejuvenating and healing the body. Sessions focus on stretching all areas of the body, while releasing stress and tension from joints and muscles. Various breathing techniques and guided imagery may be used to increase relaxation. All guests are invited to attend and modifications are offered to meet the comfort level of those practicing.

 

Restorative Yoga with Cheryl
Saturdays - 9/12, 9/19 & 9/26 at 5pm
Breathing & pranayama techniques; great for end of day for calming & quieting; effective for self care awareness; bring a large towel or blanket to class.


 

 

Guided Imagery with Susan M.

Available on specific Saturdays

 9/12 & 9/26 at 4pm

 

A gentle but powerful technique that focuses and directs the imagination to produce calm and peaceful images in the mind, which helps to create harmony between the mind and body. Guided imagery involves all the senses, the entire body and emotions. This practice allows our guests to tap into their inner strength to cope with everyday stress.


 


Expressive Writing

Available on specific Mondays

9/14, 9/21/, 9/28 • 2pm


Expressive Writing uses the act of writing and processing the written word to link feelings to events. Expressive Writing provides a safe and cathartic experience and reduces stress. Writing in this form helps gradually ease feelings of emotional trauma. (Limited to 6 participants).


 

 

Guided Meditation

Tuesdays - 9/1, 9/8, 9/15, 9/22, & 9/29 at 3pm


Our certified practitioners provide an opportunity for guests to focus upon a sound, object, the breath, movement, or attention itself in order to reduce stress, promote relaxation and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm state.


 

 

Cooking with Chef Cathy

Available specific Mondays

9/14 & 9/28 at 4pm

 

Chef Cathy will share a Mary’s Place by the Sea recipe and walk you through how to make the meal at home. Her recipes are plant-based and include ingredients that nourish the body and soul. 


 

 

The Joy of Juicing & the Benefits of Blending Class with Laurie

Available on specific Fridays:

9/11 • 1pm

Learn how to juice and blend your own smoothies, shakes and juices and feel healthier and happier than ever before. This class will teach you the basics of juicing and blending, which appliances to choose to fit into your lifestyle, and show you how to create delicious drinks that can help you heal your body and boost your health.

A place for women with cancer to connect with each other, make new friends, and engage in fun activities with our House Manager Susan Barrett - just like at Mary's Place. 


 

 

Prayer

Wednesdays 9/2, 9/9, 9/23, 9/30

 

Mary’s Place by the Sea offers non-denominational prayer as a spiritual activity to reduce emotional stress and worry.
