Understanding “Scanxiety” with Laura G.
December 11 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
About the Class:
While it’s an unofficial term, “scanxiety” is a very real experience. Scanxiety describes the anxious feelings that arise leading up to a cancer imaging scan, during the scan and while waiting for results. This common experience can include a wide range of discomfort, from shortness of breath and dizziness to irritability and trouble sleeping. Sometimes, symptoms can begin weeks before the scan while other times symptoms swell in the waiting room. When so much of a cancer journey is beyond one’s control, we can tune into helpful resources that are within our control. This workshop will offer a menu of support for scanxiety, including grounding exercises, breathwork, a soothing touch compassion practice, and a positive visualization meditation. Time will be left at the end for peer support and insights.
