Providing a place for women with cancer to heal: mind, body, and soul

All women living with all forms of cancer are welcome at Mary's Place By The Sea

Mary's Place by the Sea provides an innovative approach to caring for women with cancer during and after treatment. We offer individual oncological massage, guided meditation, nutritional counseling, spa services, group workshops and overall support in a 6 bedroom lake front bed and breakfast located in Ocean Grove New Jersey. Since opening in May 2009 Mary's Place by the Sea, a non-profit organization has served over 500 women, free of charge throughout the tri-state area. As one guests writes, "My healing began at Mary's Place."
The founders of Mary's Place by the Sea feel they are helping fill a gap in standard treatment of cancer. With this in mind it is needed to have a healing center in every major city.
Cost: All services are performed by licensed professionals and come at NO CHARGE for our guests.
Eligibility: Mary's Place by the Sea is available for any woman with any type of cancer.
Family Support: We are committed to help the children of a mother stricken with cancer through counseling, children's yoga, cooking classes and general instruction on how to help mom through her battle. Additionally, we offer counseling for the spouse, upon request.
Mary's Place by the Sea opened in May, 2009. To date, we have supported over 500 families from the tri-state area. We support each woman with her individual needs and attempt to alleviate her daily stresses so she can focus on getting well and win her battle with cancer.
Our 1st Annual Walk-a-thon, “Let’s Walk Together” was a HUGE success this past weekend! We would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Clare Freda our event Chairwoman along with our entire Fundraising Committee. We are grateful to our sponsors and to Sandy Bailoni for catering the event and procuring all the food. Thank you to Bubba for providing the music and to Laurie Cataldo from The Point radio for emceeing our event.
Thank you to all of you who fundraised for us within your workplace and community and brought teams together to show our guests that they are not alone in their battle! We had close to 400 walkers and so far have raised over $60,500!
We especially thank our top fundraisers: David Armstrong, our Friends of Embury Ave. and Beth Hahn for your efforts in bringing in over 20,000 combined.
Thank you to Assemblywoman Mary Pat Angelini and Congressman Frank Pallone for stopping in and showing your support!
It was a beautiful day with inspiring messages written on our Memory Wall that will fuel us to keep fighting to make a difference and change the outcome of a cancer diagnosis. Thank you to our countless guests who came to show their support and courage to walk, even if they didn’t feel up to it. You motivate us each day to have a louder voice in the medical community and to bring a face to a disease. Keep fighting!
Finally, THANK YOU to each and every one of you who had a part, no matter how big or small in our event. We are grateful for your belief in our mission and we will continue to work hard for the families in our community!
Love,
Michele Gannon and Maria McKeon
